María José is a social specialist with experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations and negotiations, and implementation of development programs. Her dissertation at Oxford focused on Indigenous-owned mining operations, sustainable mineral development, and a just energy transition.
Previously, María José worked in the oil and gas industry in Ecuador, where she co-created and co-implemented a CSR Program geared toward the development of local communities and Indigenous Nationalities in the Amazon.
María José has worked within the Business and Human Rights team of the UN Global Compact Network UK on corporate responsibility and also has experience as a sustainability and mining consultant.
