Mike has over 25 years of experience working with natural resource and infrastructure projects as a consultant and in a variety of senior management and other positions.

Mike’s work is focused on developing practical best practice solutions appropriate to each project locality. His approach is built on a commitment to fully understanding local context, stakeholder engagement and teamwork. He has a thorough understanding of the diverse components that need to be woven together to ensure successful outcomes for companies and communities.

Mike has extensive worldwide experience dealing with land access & resettlement; stakeholder engagement; social impact assessment; community development and other social issues. He has managed, planned, implemented, carried out due diligence on, reviewed, monitored, audited and provided capacity building training in relation to numerous resettlement projects in over 30 countries.

Mike is thoroughly familiar with the policies and standards of international lending institutions.

He is a co-author of Land Access and Resettlement: A Guide to Best Practice (Greenleaf, 2015) and SRA’s Insights Series on the Land Access & Resettlement Process (2017).

Our personnel have worked extensively worldwide, from Armenia to Zambia, for clients including the World Bank Group, EBRD, ICMM, KfW, DEG, Newmont, Newcrest, Gold Fields, Iamgold, Rio Tinto, Shell, BG, and Exxon Mobil to name a few.
