Gerry is a Founding Director of SRA. He is a global expert in land acquisition, resettlement, social impact assessment, and urban and regional development, having successfully planned and implemented a variety of projects in over 30 countries. He has worked with natural resource, engineering and energy companies, lending institutions, local and regional government, the United Nations, and international NGOs.
Gerry’s work has covered planning, implementation and review of projects in the natural resource, energy, infrastructure, conservation, and post-disaster / conflict sectors, and focuses on creating win-win outcomes for communities and project proponents, based on practical application of international best practice tailored to the local context.
His expertise is in project management, land access and resettlement, land management, stakeholder engagement and community negotiations, social impact assessment, livelihood restoration, and participatory community planning and development.
Gerry is thoroughly familiar with the policies and standards of international lending institutions and has developed policies, guidance documents and training courses for corporations, institutions and professional events.
He is a co-author of Land Access and Resettlement: A Guide to Best Practice (Routledge, 2015) and SRA’s Insights Series on the Land Access & Resettlement Process (2017). He recently completed an MSc in Carbon Management (Climate Change Management), which included a thesis on Resettlement and Climate Change.
