José is a resettlement and social specialist, architect and urban planner, with experience in the planning, design, and implementation of resettlement projects, including project management, community consultation and negotiations, stakeholder engagement strategies, design of compensation frameworks, and development and implementation of strategies for risk management and impact mitigation.
Jose has worked in socially complex contexts in countries such as Libya, Panama, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Mexico. He has led resettlement processes in Colombia and Mexico from planning to implementation. As an architect, he led the design and planning of two indigenous communities during the pre-construction phase of a mine under the principles of FPI consultation.
