Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) failures in recent years have highlighted the importance of improving how TSFs are managed. The new Global Tailings Standard is an important step in this direction.

In light of the Global Tailings Standard, SRA will be publishing a 2 Part Tailings Storage Facility and Resettlement Insight Series to look further into the role of resettlement in relation to TSF management.

The Series aims to help project proponents, mine owners, land access and resettlement practitioners, communities and other interested parties understand how displacement impacts and resettlement can be properly considered and handled within the broader context of effectively assessing and managing tailing storage facility (TSF) risks and consequences to communities, be these in relation to existing or planned TSFs.
